Deploying AJAX enabled apps

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Got the above error when i tried to deploy an AJAX enabled app to our production server. It was working fine on my dev machine but i think thats because i have visual studio installed. In case anyone has this problem, i thought i would post the solution that worked for me.

1. Install AJAX extensions (if not already installed)
2. Copy DLL's from C:\Program Files\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions\v1.0.61025\ to your bin folder in your application directory

Laptop has been ordered...

I just ordered a new laptop. The Dell xps M1710. Can't wait till it gets here should be pretty awesome me thinks. So at least the next time i go to code camp oz or similar i wont be one of the minority without a laptop, and ill actually be able to do some examples as they show us. Speaking of code camp, there's one in coming up in Code Camp SA is coming up. It will be held at unisa in the city. Anyone else going?

Are you being paid enough?

I had comment in my last post a salary's in the I.T. industry, specifically, software development. It seems like the only way to get paid a descent wage is to either go contracting , start your own company, become a manager or outsource your work to primates. Most companies I.T. staff just don't seem to be valued highly enough. What do other developers think?

Hey peoples. I'm a software developer from Adelaide, South Australia. I decided start this because i just wanted a place to share my thoughts, frustrations, things i have learnt that might be of interest to others. Not just in the coding world but also in general life hence the name which you may have realised is ripped off from one of my favorite books/movies The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
